BATTERY 2030 plus (+) – The European initiative for battery research has launched

Batteries for the European EV and stationary energy storage market

The European research initiative BATTERY 2030+ is taking off. The ambition is to make Europe the world-leader in the development and production of sustainable batteries. The batteries need to store a lot more energy, have a longer cycle life, have a better safety profile than today and be greener than today’s batteries in order to enable a clean energy transition to reduce the carbon dioxide emission.

The research initiative BATTERY 2030+ aims to make European battery start-up companies winning

This is an important long-term research investment in the field of batteries that will strengthen Europe's research position and contribute to having an industry that can manufacture the batteries of the future," says Professor Kristina Edström, Uppsala University, who is the main co-coordinator of BATTERY 2030+. "We have been working for several years on the roadmap on which we base our research efforts, and which we presented in March this year. Now the most research projects are taking place and we are making sure that our ideas will result in new knowledge and new battery products"

Swiss Research institutions involved in the European research initiative BATTERY 2030+

Two research institutes in Switzerland, both from the ETH domain (EMPA and PSI), received some European funds to participate in the 2030+ research project.
Swiss Battery supports the European research initiative BATTERY 2030+ and Swiss Battery supports the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050 in order reduce the global carbon dioxide emission. The cutting-edge technology of Swiss Battery helps to move forward the global race about the best high-energy density batteries with Swiss Battery technology for transportation and stationary storage.
